The Sysadmin Sucks.
So, note to self (and rest of world) when doing a raidhotadd on a raid 1 software array, make sure that the device you’re adding isn’t your precious 700GB raid5 array with all your data (from 1995 on) it. Thank god for Unix tho. Only the first 20 GB was overwritten so I was able to e2fsck -f -y -b 102400000 /dev/sdd1 the device and recover the majority of the data. There’s still a few gigabytes left to deal with, but thank god that most of it was saved.
Yet another reason that I love Unix.
In other news, ns2 and relay01 are up and running, and as a result I now have redundancy in my mail and DNS setup. I was also able to take over hosting my own domain for the first time ever. It’s a good feeling (in a geeky ass way).
Now off to play more Lumines (for the PSP!).
